Athletics and Recreation

Best-in-class facilities.
Championship-caliber teams.

Driven by pride of affiliation, natural talent, and tremendous smarts, our student-athletes (the Mules, of course) excel—on game day and every day in between.
Colby is a proud member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference and the NCAA Division III.
Athletes practice in our new 350,000-square-foot Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center.
Colby offers 32 varsity teams.
Colby offers 32 club sports (including the co-ed woodsmen’s team).

The premier sports facility in all of Division III.

Opened in August 2020, key facilities of the Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center include: the only Olympic-sized Myrtha international competition pool in the Northeast; an ice arena; a 200-meter indoor track; a climbing wall; nine squash courts; dance, yoga, and meditation studios; and one of the largest fitness centers at any liberal arts college.

The epitome of
the student athlete.

Compete at the highest levels while building relationships and habits of mind you’ll carry with you always. Whether varsity athletes, club sport devotees, or intramural enthusiasts, our students don’t have to choose between preparing for the future and enjoying their present.

For details about the athletic recruitment process, please review the NESCAC Admissions Statement, which is shared among all colleges in our conference.
